I never set out to be a teacher. I was on my way to medical school, just taking a few prerequisites while substitute teaching. But something unexpected happened—I fell in love with the connection I had with students. The energy, the curiosity, the chance to make an impact—it was something I completely underestimated.
Fast forward to my first full-time teaching position, and I was all in. I worked hard, took every piece of advice I could get, and poured everything into my classroom. I thought I was thriving. Then, out of nowhere, I was told I wasn’t ‘good enough.’ I was crushed. I almost walked away from education altogether.
But that moment? That moment shaped me. It made me more determined than ever to create a classroom where every student—especially the ones who struggled the most—felt like they belonged. That fire led me from the classroom to district leadership, to coaching, to speaking at conferences, and now, to The Learning Project.
The truth is, our education system needs a revolution. Our students need more than worksheets and lectures. They need engaging, hands-on learning that connects across subjects. They need teachers who feel supported and inspired, not burned out. And that’s exactly why I created this podcast—to be your cheerleader, coach, and teammate as you build the classroom you love.
So if you’ve ever felt exhausted, frustrated, or stuck in a system that doesn’t work the way it should—you’re not alone. And I promise, there’s a better way. Let’s make it happen, together.
